Hantavirus in San Diego

Hantavrius

Background
Hantavirus is a highly pathogenic (50%) virus transmitted by mice, particularly their bodily fluids. "Ebola lite" is a good way of looking at it and this is because the virus takes out of you in a few days what flu takes two to six weeks to do, but either way once your antioxidants reserves are depleted death is certain. Death by hantavitus is by what doctors call "sepsis" and/or a "cytokine storm" but both pathologies are merely the end stage of acute scurvy and represent a complete failyre of the antioxidant system without with the immune system is inactive.

While Hantavirus can become epidemic some people infected do not develop the disease. For the virus to cause disease two conditions must be met. First there must be subclinical scuvy because at appropriator personal levels of ascorbate, the virus can not exist. but if that fails another condition must be met, as the virus can onl exist in a narrow range of serum Selenium: too little and too much are onconsistant with viral functions. Since it's used by the immune system too little is not an option, neither is it ptactical because virues mutate in conditions of low selenium, plus it takes very little to let viruses exist and they can compete much more quicky and efficiewntly that our own bodies have for this scarce resource.

What Hantavirus shares with Ebola and apparently Influenza is a common mechanism whereby the Glycoprotein "spikes" on the outside of the virus envelope must form a bond with the cellular membrane, this is the first step in the process whereby the virus takes over the host cell. In the presence of Selenium in the correct concentration (> .98um/l) the virus is not able to attack the host cell.

When we find this going on in the Baka people of the central African forest we refer to it as "natural immunity" but it's no more natural that us taking vitamin D to prevent rickers, B1 to prevent BeriBeri or C to prevent scurvy. Since Lipinski 2015 we know kow that adequate selium levels in the blood inhibit infection even in the case of Ebola are the Baka do not recall ever getting so much as as a sniffle from Ebola, despite up to a third of them having had the disease. This information, known since 1976 to medical science

California deer mouse caught near Santa Ysabel has tested positive for the potentially deadly hantavirus. (San Diego County) Gary Warth, January 19, 2018, San Diego Union Tribune
A California deer mouse caught in routine trapping in the Santa Ysabel area has tested positive for the potentially deadly hantavirus, the first positive testing of the virus in San Diego County this year.

This year also heralded the discovery of virses in mice completely unknown; a complete inventory of virus and bacteria found in wild mice in New York City can be found in these two papers:
