"Monsanto’s “Discredit Bureau” Really Does Exist [UPDATE]"
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/03/27/1373484/-Monsanto-s-Discredit-Bureau-Swings-into-Action

"One student asked what Monsanto was doing to counter the “bad science” around their work[1]. Dr. Moar, perhaps forgetting that this was a public event, then revealed that Monsanto indeed had “an entire department” (waving his arm for emphasis) dedicated to “debunking” science which disagreed with theirs."

What they are in effect trying to say here is "Roundup can't cause cancer, the observations must be wrong."

Now, how do you think they "debunk" things? By playing with test tubes? No, social media postings mostly[2]. Only a very small percentage of this staff needs to spend any time ghostwriting material to calm the public down and this is now a common characteristic of large chemical corporations..

Lying about science is always accompanied with accusations of bad science of bad science for example When "Science Babe" began attacking all the prominent figures who had warned about Monsanto's "probably" carcinogenic Organophosphate insecticide before the WHO did.

Although she changed it a couple of weeks ago, when new as of five weeks ago, Science Babe's website said this:

"I am an analytical chemist with a background in forensics and toxicology. Before working full-time as a science writer and public speaker, I worked as a chemistry professor, a toxicology chemist, and in research analyzing pesticides for safety.".

Now it says this: "Yvette holds a B.A. in theatre, a B.S. in chemistry, and an MSc in forensic science with a concentration in biological criminalistics. She currently runs SciBabe full time and resides in Southern California. Views expressed on this site are her own"

If she's so sure of the science and so proud of her work with insecticide safety why does she now deny, or at the very least, hide, her involvement with this?

I'll take "Science Babe" more seriously when she examines both sides to an issue and disclose the source of her funding for her work and education.

"For more than a decade, the FDA has shown a pattern of burying the details of misconduct. As a result, nobody ever finds out which data is bogus, which experiments are tainted, and which drugs might be on the market under false pretenses."

"Much of what medical researchers conclude in their studies is misleading, exaggerated, or flat-out wrong. So why are doctors—to a striking extent—still drawing upon misinformation in their everyday practice? Dr. John Ioannidis has spent his career challenging his peers by exposing their bad science.
