Calif. Drought 2015

Much debate arose with the dwindling of the california water reservoir in 2015. When it became apparent people only used 7-15% of the water for various uses, the industry that grows produce in the desert began picking each other apart. In the contest between lettuce and almonds I really have to side with the almond here - they're a far better, even desirable investment of water especially compared to lettuce, for many reasons.

Heat is not killing the reef, pollution from industrry and farms is.

More lies have been told about the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) than even the global warming hoax. Back in the 1960s, the Time Life book The Sea claimed the crown-of-thorns starfish would destroy the entire GBR by 1970. Reality showed something different: pollution killed the coral, and the starfish were just eating the decaying remains. This truth surfaced twenty years later...

The arsonist was jailed.

A coastal neighborhood in the north of the Los Angeles basin called Pacific Palisades burned to the ground because of wildfires. The media was quick to report this was cause by human climate change - for about a day, then the person who lit the fire was found, charged and jailed. Trivia: I used to live across the bay in Palos Verdes for a decade; the locals in PV point out that every few years wildfires take out these towns. It happens a could of times in a lifetime when small parts of places like Malibu burn; people in PV will stir on their rooves and watch. The folks at the other end of the bay presumably do the same. Ken ("Unix") Thompsons system lived in the Palisades when I was in PV the 1980s; my first wife used to play bridge with her.

Penguins and flu

Mans introduction of various human viral pathogens into the Antarctic continent (ex, Newcastle disease, human flu viruses) is unfortunate. Recently it was found, while trying to explain penguin flu viral outbreaks, that ducks are the global carries of avian flu worldwide. Shorebirds infect the avian population from there.
