This article: "Scientists Discover How To Reduce Calories and Glycogen in Rice" - posted here and many other places has an error on it that confuses the subject instead of making it more clear.

It's wrong of course, the original article was wrong and everyone that picked it up didn't know enough to correct it. You have to actually do something to rice to make calories go away, just putting cooked ride in the fridge won't work.

The glycemic index changes because it alters the starch molecules into a form that breaks down more slowly in the body, that's all.

It should say "reduced glycemic index" and not even mention calories to be correct and it should be noted this works with potatoes too and other starches too.
