Trans fats vs salmon. They're very different types of saturated fats (and there are many many different types of saturated fats, "saturated" is like saying "red" in terms of wine, it refers to a broad spectrum) and it's the trans fats - man made ones - that do not exist in nature that are the problem in the studies they cite that show saturated fats are harmful.
That's what we refer to as "processed oils" or "hydrogenated" or "trans fats". These are being banned out of existence now as they're both extremely dangerous to heart and brain.
If you look carefully you'll notice the companies that make these dangerous fats paid for this study. That's right, they sell high temperature hydrogenated palm kernel oil,m stiff so bad it's actually illegal now in may places, while vilifying a food product that's been in continuous sue for 25,000 years among people that do not get the type (or any type) of cardiovascular disease).
The AHA is an industry group of industrial food producers who made it up and keep it around to be able to say their "heart healthy choices" have an albeit imaginary scientific organization to look legitimate. What does the AHA actually do ffs?
They recommend margarine for one thing, you know the stuff that does cause the damage in the stress the AHA cites. Made from hydrogenated palm kernel oil - and they've made these in spite of knowing how harmful they are, they're not stupid or can't read, they're simply lying out of economic necessity and utterly shameless.
If you want to take industry's advice on this important issue, swell; good luck with that. Name of next of kin? Get used to hearing that.
The AHA needs to be called out on what it is here: pseudoscience. When you ignore the evidence that disagrees with your assertion, that's the very technical definition of pseudoscience and that definition perfectly describes the AHA's position.
his is an industry group that hurts not helps. It's never helped If t were trying to her they would not make the food products they do.
Ignore them.
